Hockey

This term the Year 8 hockey team had their County Tournament. Unfortunately we didn’t get into the finals as we lost both of our games against Howells and Glantaf.

Our first game of the tournament was against Howells, even though everyone played exceptionally well the score was 2-0 to Howells. A well done to all of the defence as if they didn’t work to the best of their ability, we would have lost by a lot more than two goals!

The second game we played was against Glantaf, the score for this game was 6-2 to Glan Taf. Well done to Chelsea Parker for standing in for the goal keeper for the first half, as the goal keeper broke her toe, so thank you very much Chelsea for being such a helpful player.

Even though the team lost both games it doesn’t mean we didn’t play well, because every single player on the hockey team played absolutely amazing, and did the school proud.

The last game of Year 8 was played so well by all the team that took part against Brynteg. Unfortunately we lost in the last 5 minutes by 1-0. Thank you to Caitlin Smith for standing in as we were one player short. Well done to Olivia Male, Moli Pathmanathan, Louise Foley and Ciara Preece for putting such a good fight up for the other team.

Year 8

100% effort... always!

By Emily Redmond and Mary Dent, Year 8

We have had a great season of hockey winning almost every game. We had a great team which have worked well together throughout the year. At the start of the season we played seven a side but then progressed to eleven a side.

We have competed in the County tournament but we had a draw against Howells. It was down to the last game and Howells won 2-0 which knocked us out of the tournament. We left the tournament not knowing if we got into the finals or not. We hadn't but it had been close.

The girls played with enthusiasm and dedication resulting in our good wins through the year.

Year 9

This year for the Year 9 hockey team has been very eventful, we have had lots of changes and experiences that has helped all of us realise what we really are like as a team.

One of our most memorable match was against Llanishen, where we beat them 3-1, and we couldn’t have thanked Millie Davis or Megan Lloyd more for scoring those goals for us! We were so proud and happy of the way we played in that match, this made us play like it in all of the other matches we played to finish off our amazing season. Also we would like to say a big thank you and well done to all our Mid-Fields and Defence and of course our goalie Danni Lundrigan but without the help of a few other team mates taking Danni’s place we wouldn’t be at the place we are now.

For the future we hope for lots of more wins and obviously some losses to make us even more determined than we already are.
