A section by section guide to the Newnham RTV. (With Chaz Slaughter’s Group.) Section One: section one was out by the old paintball ground, starting from the track they weaved in and around the trees before having a small but steep climb to the one gate. Everyone in the group was able to get down to the one apart from the returning Andrew Clarke, who hadn’t done a RTV since the Nationals, and Ria Roach who both got a seven. The only hold up to the section was when David White got his steering guard imbedded into the tree stump by the one gate and had to get hi-lifted off so not to damage the chassis. Section Two: Was in the same area as section one but back closer to the road entrance. A tight 11 and 10 gate made sure the drivers were paying attention from the start with Amy Camlin getting the closest to hitting the 11, with what seemed like less than a fag paper distance between the number and the Land Rover. After that, the section was fairly straight forward with pretty everyone clearing, Andrew Clarke was still getting back into the groove as it proved when he forgot where the section went and tried going the wrong way through the three gate. Love loved loved it! Thank you all. X – Amy Camlin (Via Facebook) Section Three: section three was the first of two sections that split up the bomb hole: - due to the tight lay out of the section combining with drivers not being given quite enough time between the competitor in front starting, the first couple got caught out with not being able to take the best line through the eight gate, as the previous competitor was coming back from the five to go to the four gate, which shared the same area. A pile of logs between the eight and seven would catch out some of the middle runners as the logs moved, but these would soon cleared and allowed competitors to get over them. Simon Wheeler was one of many to get stuck on the stumps at the six gate due to an incorrect line.
