Cornerstone No. 191, page 6 News from Jacqueline & Alice Caunt in Bath To all at the Scots Kirk Apologies for our radio silence I just cannot believe that it will be 3 years in June since we left… Life in England is thrilling and certainly an adventure but it lacks one thing: a fantastic church. Although we attend church at school it is nowhere near as warm and welcoming as the Scots Kirk. I am currently studying for A levels — History, Philosophy and English Literature, all of which I am enjoying and particularly how each subject is interlinked. My extra-curricular activities include singing in the school choir, mentoring a younger pupil and working towards my D of E Gold. I am looking forward to the expedition part which will see me scaling the highest point in England this summer - Scafell Pike. I have had good practice scaling even higher peaks in Switzerland. I do miss you all. We are thoroughly enjoying life in dear old Blighty. We both love being at Prior Park College in Bath and fully appreciate our Georgian surroundings and I can easily imagine myself as a Jane Austen heroine (Elisabeth Bennet being my first choice). We have the most delightful commute to school each day walking through National Trust woodland, although we had to invest in some good wellies, and the only traffic jam is caused by a hedgehog crossing our path. We do miss our Scots Kirk family and would love to see you if ever you are in the Bath area and we hope to visit Switzerland again at some point. Jacqueline & Alice Condolences We send our condolences to… ● Vicky Sikora and family on the death of Vicky’s mother at the end of last year. ● Alison & Peter Fairchild on the recent death of Alison’s mother.
