July 21st , Night
Running my first fellowship with the other officers was nothing short of exhilarating . That was something I had always wanted to do ( Seriously , I would sit in the audience as a middle schooler , look up at the officers , and think to myself “ I want to do this someday ”). That night was also when I discovered that spirit props are heavy . The VJCL President , Vivian , and I were absolutely struggling to carry them for the twenty-minute walk from the girls ’ dorms to our fellowship location . ( Who knew that college campuses were this huge ?)
That night , Vivian and I worked on spirit posters in our room until 3:30 AM , which we described as “ simultaneously fun and miserable .” We listened to the entire Hamilton and Epic the Musical soundtrack in one night . As if that wasn ’ t bad enough , we then started discussing early imperial Roman history , specifically Plautia Urgulanilla ( Claudius ’ first wife , whose name is impossible to pronounce ). I mean , we ’ re all nerds here .
