A Cozy Hangout- Restaurant Monarch
Restaurant Monarch has been the favorite dining spot for the locals and the tourists alike. Nestled at the heart of the town, the restaurant provides a flavor of nostalgia mixed with ambrosial cuisine for the customers. The ambiance and the service make the experience even more memorable. The new bar on the ground floor has created a pub charm adding to its other qualities.
As you walk into the place the first thing you notice is its décor. The wooden finesse of the walls, the round tables and welcoming smiles on the faces of the employees is really heart-warming. The ambiance at night, is set by dimmed lamps that hang from the ceiling to the tables accompanied by the soothing music. This complements the restaurant's wooden décor, giving the whole place a relaxed cabin-like atmosphere.
The restaurant isn't as busy on the weekdays so it's easy to get a table as soon as you arrive but on the weekends you may have to wait in a queue. While you wait you can visit the bar on the ground floor to relax with a pint. As for the service, there has been mixed reviews. As mentioned earlier, the restaurant is often very busy, so some customers have complained that the waiters can sometimes seem a little abrupt. Also, each table is designated to only one waiter, and this may cause some confusion when a request is made to another waiter. However, most customers say the employees are very friendly and often live up to the expectations of the diners. Since the restaurant is attached to the hotel, the guests also enjoy the comfort of eating within the premises.
Coming to the Menu, it contains variety of cuisines ranging from North India to Mughlai and Chinese to Bengali. The food is not just delicious but the portions are huge too and all at affordable prices. The recommended non-veg dishes include Chicken/ Mutton Biriyani, Chicken/ Mutton Kasha (my personal favorite), Chicken/ Mixed Fried Rice, Garlic/Chilly Chicken in total for Rs.550 sufficing 2 people.
