Bylaws — Article III

Section 2 /

Duties of

President

9
Going in gavel order ( as according to Article V , Section 1 ), the first office is the President .
As suggested by the name , the President ’ s main job to preside — be the chair — at meetings , namely :
Δ the NJCL Convention ; Δ all meetings of the Executive Board ; Δ all meetings of the Board of Directors .
This involves calling meetings to order , ensuring that the agenda is followed , and moderating conversation . During the NJCL Convention , the President must be available to help out when needed . Additionally , the President creates agendas for all NJCL meetings , in collaboration with the Chairperson of the National Committee .
Outside of meetings , the President must stay in communication with the other officers , stay updated on how their plans are going , and offer help should the need arise . Furthermore , the President acts as the representative of JCL and would be tasked with attending events of other organizations and writing to members of Congress if the need ever arose .

How do I do it ?

Your president ’ s main duty is to preside at meetings ( including conventions if you have them ), so you can start this section like so :
“ The President : A . Shall preside at < convention > and all meetings of < executive board >. B . …”
It ’ s also good to have your president keep tabs on other officers ’ progress and make your president a member of all committees ; the NJCL does the latter in Constitution Article XI .
