the dynamic just by taking action and finding forgiveness in my heart and common ground to communicate. I began with letting down my walls and beliefs and judgments. I began with accepting myself for who I am and seeing my own faults and imperfections and having no shame or guilt for them.
When I called or visited relatives I would display genuine interest in what we conversed about and was completely in the moment when we visited without pushing any agendas. I knew if I came in pointing fingers or expressing anger or pain it could cause others to close up and bring us back to where we started at. Since I have begun making these efforts I have noticed how all my relationships in my life have improved. By
beginning to take action towards becoming closer with my family, I have had more days that are filled with gratitude and appreciation for life. I can see how much more open and accepting my family and I have been of each other. While there are still challenges we face with communication and getting together, I have truly seen the fruit of my labor and prayers begin to ripen. Being a parent now, it’s definitely my top priority to make
sure our children know their family. This year in fact, we hope to travel to the East Coast and Caribbean to reunite with family in both places. I know that anything is possible with determination, a clear intention and God's Grace.
