All of the body’s tissues are affected by autointoxication.

If the poisons back up into the nervous system, we feel irritable and depressed.

We feel weak if they back up to the heart,

Bloated if they reach the stomach, and our breath is foul if they reach the lungs.

If the toxins back up to the skin, another organ of elimination, it becomes sallow and wrinkled.

If they back up to the glands, we feel tired, lack enthusiasm and drive, and look older beyond our years.

Autointoxication can be a caustic factor in numerous diseases.

Constipation is one of the first signs indicating to us that our bowel is not functioning properly.

Several reasons for constipation are the following:

•Insufficient water intake

•Non-fiber foods such as refined or processed de-natured foods (i.e., bleached white flour, white sugar)

•Preservatives, which retard digestion

•Too little exercise

•Eating too late (you should not eat after the sun goes down, preferably or at the least you should have your last meal 4 – 5 hours before going to sleep)

•Digestive organs’ weakness, disease or stress (liver, stomach, pancreas, etc.)

•Improper food combining (should not combine protein and starch, for example)

•Junk foods

•Nutrient or emotional imbalances

When a person is constipated, the walls of the colon are often encrusted with accumulated fecal matter. The inner diameter of the colon is reduced like a water pipe blocked by mineral deposits, and eventually the opening becomes narrower and narrower making it difficult to pass waste through. And since the encrusted fecal matter lines the colon walls, the colon is unable to absorb nutrients from our food in the last phase of the digestion process; waste from the bloodstream that should normally be drawn into the colon through the colon wall are re-absorbed by the

body along with other toxins resulting from the fermentation and petrification of incompletely digested food. In addition, incompletely digested food ferments and petrifies when remaining in the colon longer than a day. When this fermented waste combines with the body’s own bile acid from the liver, carcinogens can form; which can ultimately develop into colon or rectal cancer.

In order to combat colon disease, removal of toxins through detoxing is necessary. Detoxification is to release oneself from poison. Webster’s defines detoxification as “The metabolic process by which the toxic qualities of a poison or toxin are reduced by the body.” A poison is defined as “a substance with an inherent property that tends to destroy life or impair health.” Toxins not only come in the form of food, but can be in the form of negative thoughts and feelings. According to Queen Afua, “a poison is something
