Teacher Tips : Transitions
By Anthony Riccio
During the pandemic , the ordinary routines of schooling seemed to be routinely disrupted . As we transitioned back onto our campuses , new social and academic challenges revealed that we had not quite returned to normal .
The articles in this issue explore the many types of transitions that students and teachers experience in school and in life . Collectively , the authors reveal that these moments of change may be either creative or disruptive . To transform transitions into creative opportunities , consider the practices noted below .
Intentionally Pursue Innovation : Among the many lessons learned during the pandemic is that learning can and will need to occur in new modes and spaces . Schools should cultivate cultures of innovation . Our attitudes as we move from class to class and from year to year model for our students a mindful navigation through life ’ s transitions .
