Council District 15 Spotlight:

Joe Buscaino

Dear Friends,

As you know, Council District 15 is a vibrant economic force in the Los Angeles region. One of the drivers of our local economy is our small and medium-sized businesses. Our office regularly conducts outreach to the small and medium-sized business community to continue to spur the economy. In our continuing effort, I want to introduce you to an innovative City program designed to help small and medium-sized businesses grow and thrive.

I’m pleased to report that right now in Council District 15, $300 million worth of contracts for capital improvements are under way. This amount does not include the billions of dollars scheduled for construction at the City’s proprietary departments, Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles World Airports and the Port of Los Angeles. The opportunity for contractors to bid on and secure City projects is now!

The Contractor Development and Bonding Program serves in concert with the City’s overarching objective of increased inclusion and opportunity for all contractors in competing for City contracts. Specific services include bond underwriting and bond capacity which are complemented by education, training and contractor support.

In the near future, we will be holding a Council District Workshop to introduce the City’s Contractor Development and Bonding Program. This program provides free consulting services to assess your needs, build contracting capacity, increase business development and help with expansion.

Learn first-hand how to do business with the City! We will be announcing the date for the upcoming workshop soon! In the meantime, feel free to call the City’s Contractor Development and Bonding Program at 213.258.3000.
