In May, approximately 5,000 students took nearly
11,000 AP exams. Those numbers show a 180 percent
and 221 percent increase from 2013, respectively.
The district hopes to continue this increase with
an additional $537,000 grant from the Texas Instruments
Foundation. It will bring the National Math and
Science Initiative College Readiness
program to GISD’s remaining three high schools—
Garland, Rowlett and Sachse—in
2016-17, providing test prep
and monetary incentives
for passing scores.
