Looking to lead a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle? Don’ t miss the 2016 Live Well, Go Green Expo from 10 a. m.-2 p. m. Sept. 24 at the Curtis Culwell Center. Formerly called the Healthy Living Expo, Garland ISD is once again partnering with the City of Garland to host this year’ s event.
Bring the entire family for free health screenings and low-cost vaccinations. Also, be sure to visit Outdoor Fest for a host of fun activities. Recycle Row will provide participants the opportunity to dispose of nontraditional materials at no charge, and 15-minute Stop & Learn demonstrations cover topics from composting to quick fitness routines.
Back by popular demand, the annual H2O 5K offers the opportunity to exercise before attending the Expo. Visit www. gogreengarland. com for more information.

iPads for high school students start rolling out this fall

As the world changes with new technology, scientific advancements and cutting-edge careers, Garland ISD believes education must change with it. The district’ s Strategic Plan calls for providing all secondary students a digital device, and in 2014, voters passed GISD’ s bond election, which included this proposal.
Rolling out this fall, Ready 1:1 equips high school students with a personal iPad. The initiative starts powering up:
• Sept. 12-16............................................................ Garland High School
• Sept. 19-23................... Naaman Forest and Rowlett high schools
• Sept. 26-30.................................................... Lakeview Centennial and North Garland high schools
• Oct. 3-7............................. Sachse and South Garland high schools
• Oct. 10-12.............................................. Memorial Pathway Academy
• Oct. 13-17........................................ Pathfinder Achievement Center
