CI NEWS SPRING2014 009 Chinese New Year for NC State Residence Halls By mid-February, although Chinese New Year had passed, students at NC State were still passionate to learn about the Chinese New Year culture. February was international culture month for residence halls at NC State University. On the evening of February 18th, CI was invited to give a workshop for students about Chinese New Year and Chinese Lantern Festival. As part of an international culture event, students learned about Chinese culture and enjoyed Filipino food. CI staffs introduced to students the different Chinese New Year customs, Chinese Zodiacs and Lantern Festival traditions. CI staffs also shared English lantern riddles and helped students make Chinese lanterns. Many students expressed that they will hang their hand-made Chinese lanterns in their dorm rooms to add Chinese flavor to the decor. 虽然中国农历新年已过 ,但是北卡州大的学生对于中国 新年文化的热情依旧高涨。2月份是北卡州大学生宿舍的国际 文化月 。2月18日晚, 北卡州大孔院受邀为住宿的学生介绍中国 新年以及元宵节文化。由于是国际文化月 ,当晚学生们品尝着 菲律宾的食物,同时了解着中国文化。孔院老师向学生介绍了 中国新年的习俗、生肖的来历、元宵节的传统等等。由于刚刚 过了中国的元宵佳节 ,老师们还让学生们尝试猜了英文灯谜, 做了灯笼。不少学生表示会将自己亲手做的灯笼挂在宿舍里 , 让房间增添一些 “中国味” 。整个活动中 ,学生们深深感受到了 中国春节与元宵节的独特韵味。
