CLASSES
The CI at NC State offers
Chinese language and
culture classes for NC State
students and the community.
Our CI provides beginner,
intermediate and advanced
level language classes to the
community and also a forcredit conversational Chinese
language class for NC State
students. CI professors also
offered a “Doing Business in
China” for Skema students
(French business school),
helping them prepare for
future working opportunities
in China. We offered over 14
different language classes to
over 2,700 students.
This summer, the CI will offer
Chinese conversation and
character classes for those
interested in maintaining
their Chinese language
practice.

办汉语会话课和汉字课，
让更多
的人有机会学习汉语、
了解中国
文化。

A TASTE OF
CHINESE - LUNCH
& LEARN SERIES
In the spring semester of
2014, our CI continued to
offer “A Taste of Chinese
at Lunchtime” to NC State
faculty and staffs. Based
on students’ inputs, Ms,
Xiaowen Yang combined
both Chinese language
and culture to offer a
more thorough Chinese
experience. Such an
arrangement has been

highly regarded by all the
participants.

In order to meet the higher
demands of undergraduates
to practice Chinese, our CI,
together with volunteers
from CSSFA (Chinese
Students and Scholars
Friendship Association),
initiated a weekly program
“Chinese Language Corner”
in Spring 2014.
For each week’s language

corner session, our CI
instructor made preparations
to help students of all
proficiency levels: for
beginners - Everyday
Chinese, for intermediate
learners - passage readings,
and for advanced learners
- open discussion about
their own hobbies, jobs, and
traveling. These well-planned
weekly activities received
positive feedbacks from both
participants and Chinese
instructors at NC State
University.
