Summer 2011 Update
This summer 19 students studied at Nanjing Normal University for a 5-week Chinese language and culture program. This is a unique program since it pairs NC State, Saint
Augustine’ s College and Reserve Office Training Corps( ROTC) to come together and study Chinese. We also sent 16 high school students to join the
Summer Bridge Program in China. The Summer Chinese Class continued to be a success as 11 students studied Chinese
characters. 今年夏天, 19 名学生参加了南 京师范大学举办的为期五周的 中国语言和文化课程 。 这是一 个非常特殊的项目, 通过学习 中文将北卡州大 、 圣奥古斯丁 学院和 ROTC( 后备军官训练 团) 紧密联系在了一起 。 同时, 我们还有 16 名高中学生参加了 在 中 国 举 办 的 暑 期 汉 语 桥 项 目 。 此外, 暑期中文班也举办 的很成功, 有 11 名学生学习了 汉字 。

August: CI Welcomes New Professor
The Confucius Institute is proud to welcome our newest visiting scholar from Nanjing Normal University( NNU), Dr. Jianning Ding. Dr Jianning Ding is a professor of English from NNU, she received her doctoral degree in English Literature at East China Normal University( ECNU). She has been teaching at NNU since 1993. Dr. Ding’ s research covers English and American literature, semiotics and education. Her special interest is medieval English literature with publications including a book, She also has interest in teaching methodology and has published articles including Tacit Knowledge: a New Perspective in Reviewing Foreign Language Teaching. We are very honored to have Dr. Ding Jianning be part of the Confucius Institute Team!
孔子学院很荣幸能邀请到南京 师范大学的丁建宁博士作为新 一届的访问学者加入我们的团 队 。 作为南京师范大学英语系 教授, 自 1993 年以来, 丁建宁 博士一直任教南京师范大学, 并在华东师范大学获得了英国 语言文学博士学位 。 丁博士的 研究涵盖了英国和美国文学 、 符号学以及教育学 。 她对中世 纪英语文学出版有着特殊的兴 趣, 同时, 她也对教学方法非 常感兴趣, 曾经发表了默会知
识论视角下的外语教学 。 我们 非常荣幸能有丁建宁博士成为 孔子学院团队的一员 。
