CONFERENCE SCHEDULE | 9
How can we help communities creatively generate solutions to problems in their worlds through drama-based activities ? " Tools for Liberation " facilitates group conversations to help participants create props that resolve , complicate , or contemplate issues in real or fictional worlds . Attendees will partake in the Tools for Liberation sequence , which consists of three activities rooted in drama-based pedagogy practices . Using the Interaction Institute for Social Change ' s Stages of Discussion methodology to scaffold engagement , attendees will experience a dramatic lesson that encourages group brainstorming , prop construction with common crafting materials , and techniques for sharing work . After the group shares their creations , the facilitators will lead a group conversation to reflect on the process and explain how to adapt the sequence for different learning communities and projects . This workshop is excellent for theatremakers and educators interested in devising new content with youth , facilitating reflective and generative conversations in diverse groups of learners , and materializing abstract concepts , values , and ideologies . Please join us and participate in this activity that empowers young people as agents of change in the world .
