atmosphere helps people study history in a relaxed , fun , and relatable manner . However , as an emerging artistic format and educational tool , museum theater and its applications should be examined critically for further development . Because of being applied in different locations , the applications of museum theater in China and the US have distinct features as well as commonalities . Questions arise in both countries . How should educators , artists , and leadership adapt appropriately and systematically to museum theater ? What is museum theater ' s potential as an educational tool to be recognized and accepted by a larger range of audiences ? How should museum theater fully use its transformative power to serve storytelling and balance the accuracy of historic contexts and the aesthetics of the performing arts ? How should people from all walks of life and governments advocate for museum theater accessibility ? Based on quantitative and qualitative research in both countries , including interviews and providing insights from personal experiences , the paper will explore the current development and its potential of museum theater and its applications .
From zero to one , entrepreneurialism and adaptation studies in theater production — case study in Hollow Cross , a theater play for NYU CSSA GALA 2024 Presenter : Jen Lee
NYU CSSA ( Chinese Students and Scholars Association ) GALA is an annual event , featuring Chinese culture and the lives of Chinese students and scholars living in the United States . Gala shows were primarily performed in Mandarin with English subtitles , which could be accessible by QR codes provided during the event on audience members ' own devices . Apart from putting on a performance cuisine , which includes a variety of performance formats , it also embarked on an unprecedented endeavor by staging a complete production of a theatrical play in this year - Hollow Cross . As assistant director of the play , I was fortunate to participate in most of the process and see the production from conception to completion . Adapting from Chinese culture to Japanese culture , from novel to stage script , transforming from rehearsal rooms to theater stages , the rich experience pushes me to reflect on entrepreneurialism and adaptation studies in theater production . The gaps that exist between imagination and what actually occurs on stage , along with the positive surprises generated by progress , can provide inspiration for theater workers , academics , writers , college students , entrepreneurs , and those interested in drama .

Given the sociopolitical climate of public education and the role drama plays in reflecting , responding to , and critiquing the current society , how do we assess the skills in standards while dismantling the institutionalized isms and bias without denying student ’ s cultural norms ? After 18 months of Zoom Drama , BLM , and years of culturally responsive teaching , three elementary drama educators from District 65-Evanston / Skokie School District will present their ongoing work with standards-based assessments for K-5 . Participants will see the transformations of assessing the standards , the developmental progression of a standard , and get an opportunity to use the assessment tool in a fishbowl activity . Creative Drama , at its core , allows each student to bring their authentic selves to a space for teaching and learning . How can we show through our curriculum and standards based assessments that the educational gaps apparent in other areas of school are less evident or absent in the drama space ? Please join us and add your voice to our ongoing learning to support each student .
