Case study: a summer at Butlin’s 7 Summer Events A mobile phone retailer chose Butlin’s Bognor Regis for its summer event he agency (which has asked to remain anonymous) has been working with its client, a UK mobile phone retailer, for seven years and arranges its two annual events. The brief was to find a unique venue with a ‘wow-factor’ and to captivate attention. An additional element of the brief was to boost attendance by offering something different. The agency had been instructed by the client to source a venue with a strong theme, which Butlin’s Bognor Regis provided. Overview The event is hosted annually by the client and brings together retailers, franchisees and suppliers. The brief is the same each year, making it a struggle to come up with new venue ideas, but Butlin’s had so much on-site, all within walking distance, and offered something different. The day includes market updates, product launches, and a company update. The client wanted to ensure teambuilding and fun was at the core of the event as franchisees and retailers work largely in isolation and it was imperative they felt part of one company. A total of 80 delegates attended the event and we had exclusive hire of the Shoreline Conference Centre. Teams enjoyed engaging and unique activities including karting and archery, the likes of which would have been a challenge to arrange on one site at any other venue. The format for the event was as follows included tea and coffee on arrival, followed by an introductory overview with a presentation and marketplace forum for sponsors and retailers. After lunch are a series of presentations followed by teambuilding activities. Exclusive hire of the pub and kitchen was arranged for the evening and delegates stayed overnight at the on-site Wave Hotel. Having a flexible meeting space was ideal for the nature of the brief and Butlin’s were able to deliver a variety of activities despite the time limit of a shorter event with one overnight. The teambuilding activities were a success and achieved exactly what the client had hoped for. The venue met the original brief and the Butlin’s Conference & Events team worked www.conference-news.co.uk tirelessly to ensure everything ran like clockwork. The event was good value for money and there was great feedback from attendees. Client testimonial The client said: “We were truly impressed by the level of service and dedication of the Butlin’s Conference & Events team. The event was a huge success and the attendees were impressed by the quality of the food, range of activities and the accommodation on offer. Butlin’s stand out against competitors for many reasons but having such an extensive array of exciting facilities on one site, flexible meeting spaces and a professional team prepared for all eventualities, really adds that extra level of care. We’d love to book Butlin’s more in the future and some delegates are planning to return for a personal holiday.”
