hile the students are
away, events come
out to play at
Regent’s University.
From petting zoos to wellness
retreats, Regent’s Conferences &
Events has seen fashionistas, legal
firms and contractors alike enjoy a
summer of diverse entertainment
and events on the university’s lawns.
Echoing the values of an
academic establishment, the
conferences and events team has
conscientiously worked an average
of almost 11 hours a day between
June and August to successfully
deliver over 1,000 events across the
whole venue; collectively enough
time to travel to the moon and back
600 times.
Entertainment has spanned a
wide spectrum to cover all tastes,
with massages and manicurists,
boot camp challenges, funfair stalls
and inflatable sumo suits. Musically,
string quartets, Caribbean steel
drums bands, rappers and Scottish
bag pipes have been heard around
the grounds this summer, reaching
the ears of guests from AV and
entertainment companies, investors,
high-end drinks brands and large
retailers among many others.
The consumption of drinks at
Regent’s summer events suggests a
hierarchy that sees Prosecco pipped
to the post by wine and beer, with
over 24,000 glasses of wine,
16,500 bottles or pints of beer,
6,000 glasses of Prosecco and
5,000 glasses of Pimm’s served
since June. In addition, Regent’s has
served ice cubes to keep a
12,000-litre mojito cool in the heat.
The catering team BBQ’d enough
sausages to reach the ground when
dangled from the top of The Shard,
and the ultimate burger stack that
would hypothetically reach the top of
Big Ben. Between healthy offerings
of locally sourced produce with
vegan and vegetarian options, candy
floss has been served using sugar
equivalent in weight to 15,400
balloons.
With more than 13,000 people
visiting the lawns for events this
summer, including a guest
appearance from Peppa Pig and a
small herd of sheep, the inevitability
of slight mishaps has seen 132
broken chairs, 34 blistered feet
among staff, and five hula hoops
gone astray.
Following an incredibly successful
summer of innovative events, the
Regent’s team gears up for another
busy season of external events as
term starts again.
Located within the tranquil private
grounds in Regent’s Park, London,
Regent’s Conferences & Events
offers four acres of landscaped
lawns for summer events of up to
1,200 guests, with a stunning
marquee available from May to
September.
