our aluminium frames are always reused .
Nothing goes to landfill from Insite Graphics . We use aluminium frames because it ’ s the most abundant mineral on earth and is infinitely recyclable . We only use water based or green guard inks and we are currently working with carbon offsetting software providers and a sustainability expert to ensure that our emissions are tracked and offset . We also like to be involved in the decision-making process of our clients and offer them sustainable options as a matter of course .
CN : The last three years have been tough for the events industry ; how did you adapt ? CB : We slimmed down and moved out to Leatherhead which was a cathartic process . In truth , without furlough , we wouldn ’ t be here , but my team were amazing . We have been through a lot together and I hope we will continue to do so as they ’ re a fantastic bunch of people . I ’ m now investing in their future by introducing more staff training and courses , wellness programmes and personal development opportunities .
CN : What do you love about the industry ? CB : No two days are ever the same so it ’ s hardly your regular nine to five job . Yes , it ’ s challenging and difficult , but my team and I thrive on problem solving . It ’ s a truly fast moving , creative environment and when I see what my team can produce , I still get an incredible feeling of pride .
CN : What do you think about the industry wide initiative Net Zero Carbon Events ? I agreed with Charlie McCurdy , CEO of Informa Markets when he said the exhibition industry is a catalyst for change . I think Insite clearly demonstrates this not only through our own environmental processes , but also through our ISO14001 accreditation .
I believe we should all be viewing sustainability holistically and not just as a tick box exercise . We are now proactively working with organisations like ESSA to gain knowledge and training for all our staff and achieve further accreditation .
CN : Are you excited about the future ? CB : I ’ m incredibly positive about the future of Insite . I see us continuing to be a leading supplier of high quality , eco graphics , signage and sustainable exhibitor booths , specialising in smaller Confex events . Despite the global downturn in the economy , we are already massively busy with bookings for 2023 . For instance , we have just had a client confirm they want us to provide booths and signage for all their events across Europe .
CN : Apart from Net Zero Events , can you foresee any other trends for the future ? CB : In my experience , younger people don ’ t want to spend three days walking around a massive hall full of white caves . The whole environment can be dull on the senses . Smaller , more dynamic events that are held more often and in a range of interesting venues seem to be on the rise . CN
