19 | ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT
On the last day of every month the preschool program staff and children take part in a cooking club. On these days,
the children are able to make their own snack. The children really enjoy being innovative with food and tasting their
amazing creations! In March, one of the Educational Assistants taught the children how to make a cultural dish called
Roti, which everyone really enjoyed eating! In April, the children made their own trail mix.
Once a month, a music and movement teacher, Dawn Bisset visits the program. She is a blast to have in the classroom,
and the children absolutely adore her. Her creativity never fails to amaze, and she always gets the children to sing,
dance, and have a great time.
During the spring term, the children learned about individuality. The classroom door was creatively decorated with
photographs of each child’s eyes, and the children really enjoyed guessing which pair of eyes belonged to them!
Also during the spring, we joined hands with the EPSB in their project “Shape up Alberta” to create awareness for
physical activity among children. The preschool students participated in a 15 minute walk in the neighbourhood; and
the preschool staff and children planted an indoor garden after spring break. The kids are doing a great job taking care
of the garden with beans and basil already starting to grow!
The preschool will be going on a few fun field trips in near future. The children are excited for an upcoming field trip to
Royal Pizza where they will get to create their individual pizzas in a big restaurant kitchen! Program staff and children
are also planning to attend the International Children’s Festival in St. Albert on May 28th.
THANK YOU
The preschool program sends out a BIG thank you to the Westmount Walmart for kindly donating a bunch of Easter, St.
Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day craft supplies! The program staff and children are so grateful for their generosity, and
have sent a big thank you card to Walmart! We also wish to thank all the parents who volunteer every week to sanitize
the toys and to everyone who sold raffle tickets in support of our program.
