The Bright Side of Living in An Association
Every day, in neighborhoods big and small, people just like you are proving that community matters. From friendly board members who volunteer their evenings to professional managers who keep everything running smoothly, community associations bring people together with a shared goal— making home an even better place to live. Across the country, millions of residents invest their time, energy, and resources to create vibrant, well-cared-for neighborhoods that truly shine. Here are a few testimonials- and some positive statistics- that tell the real story of association life:
As President of The Hammocks Master Association in Englewood, I’ ve seen what true community looks like. When Hurricane Ian hit, 152 of our 162 condos were damaged. It was a difficult time, but what stands out most isn’ t the destruction, it’ s how our residents came together. Neighbors helped clean out refrigerators to prevent spoilage, others volunteered to make lunches for recovery crews, and many residents spent hours replanting and saving damaged plants around the property. We even kept our Friday socials going to bring some normalcy back to everyone’ s week. After Ian, we reviewed our lessons learned and built an even stronger response plan. So, when Hurricane Milton arrived, our team was ready. With a pre-loss agreement already in place with our restoration partner, we were able to respond immediately. Volunteers turned out before we could even assign tasks, and residents walked the property with the response team to make sure every home was checked and cared for. What I’ m most proud of is the unity that grew from those challenging days. We felt pride in helping one another, gratitude for everyone’ s efforts, and resilience knowing we could adapt and recover together. Living in a community like ours proves that preparedness matters, but it’ s the people who make the difference.
