CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT
Under Minnesota state law , all Adventures Plus staff are mandated reporters and are required to report all suspected physical , emotional and sexual abuse or neglect of children to county child protection and / or the local police .
SNOW DAY AND EMERGENCY CLOSING INFORMATION
All national weather safety procedures will be followed in the event of severe weather . Adventures Plus will be closed on days when school is closed because of weather . Listen to local news and check the school district website for Anoka-Hennepin School District closing information .
Adventures Plus will close in the event of an emergency closing of the school during the school day . Parents / guardians are asked to monitor radio and television announcements . If parent / guardian cannot be reached , staff will attempt to contact an authorized person from the emergency form .
If school starts late , Adventures Plus also starts late . ( Example : If school starts two hours late , Adventures Plus opens at 8:30 a . m .)
Adventures Plus does not issue refunds due to inclement weather .
STAFF
The Adventures Plus staff is the cornerstone of the program ’ s overall quality . Qualified Site Coordinators , Site Leaders , and Child Care Assistants will provide a nurturing and safe environment for each child . Adventures Plus provides ongoing training , workshops and resources to aid in the professional development of staff . We encourage you to meet and talk with your staff .
CHILD / STAFF RATIO
The ratio for children to staff in Adventures Plus for the program is approximately one staff for every 15 children , grades K-5 .
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Adventures Plus does not allow children to bring toys and personal items from home . A special day may be arranged by staff for show-and-tell when children may bring a special toy from home . Adventures Plus is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal items .
POLICY FOR RECORDING AND REPORTING ACCIDENTS
In the event of a medical emergency , staff will take the necessary steps in obtaining care for the child . These steps include : 1 . Administering first-aid deemed appropriate by staff .
2 . Parent / guardian will be informed of accident and first-aid applied . If appropriate , the parent / guardian may be asked to pick the child up from Adventures Plus .
Severe Medical Emergency ( requires immediate care of a physician or paramedic ) 1 . Staff will contact 911 immediately . Parent / guardian will be contacted directly after 911 call .
2 . If parent / guardian cannot be reached , staff will attempt to contact a person listed on the emergency form .
3 . In the event that a child need further medical attention , they will be transported to a medical facility . Adventures Plus reserves the right , with assistance of paramedics , to determine if the child will be transported by emergency vehicle .
Because accidents can happen to any child , it is important that we have current phone numbers where a parent / guardian can be reached during the day , as well as the numbers for the persons you have listed as emergency contacts . The parent / guardian will be responsible for any expenses incurred due to a child ’ s injury .
