INCLUSION
Adventures Plus values children with special needs as an integral part of our diverse community . Adventures Plus encourages the enrollment of children with disabilities and strives to support their success in the program . Our goal is for all students to have independent , meaningful participation .
Adventures Plus will :
• Encourage students to actively engage and participate in age appropriate inclusive activities .
• Provide reasonable accommodations as needed to make physical and social inclusion successful .
PARENT / GUARDIAN ROLE
The role of the parent / guardian in Adventures Plus is vital . Parents / guardians are welcome to visit the site ; their involvement will generate a unified , healthy experience for the child . Please contact your site coordinator with site-specific questions or concerns .
PARENT / GUARDIAN ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Adventures Plus Advisory Council consists of a group of program parents / guardians and staff who work together to provide high quality care for families with school-age children . Watch for council meeting minutes and information in your site newsletter . If you are interested in serving on the council , contact your site coordinator .
SIGNING IN AND OUT
Children must be escorted in and out of the child care site , and signed in and out by an authorized person 16 years of age or older . Children cannot be dropped off or picked up at the door .
AUTHORIZED PICK UP OF CHILDREN
Upon registration , parent / guardian will be asked to list the names of persons authorized to pick up their child . These persons must be 16 years of age or older . They will also be asked to show identification when signing out your child , and MUST be on the authorized pick up list for your child to be released to them . Please log into your child care account to manage your authorized pick up list .
CONFERENCES
Conferences will be available with the Adventures Plus staff as requested by parent / guardian or as needed .
STUDENT DISCIPLINE POLICY
In accordance with the Adventures Plus goal of providing a safe , secure and nurturing atmosphere for all children , the program abides by the Anoka-Hennepin School District Student Discipline Policy .
A copy of the policy will be provided upon request or by visiting www . ahschools . us and viewing all school district policies contained in the school board section of the website .
Disruptive behavior is defined as verbal or physical activity which may include , but is not limited to , behavior that requires excessive attention from staff , or ignores or disregards the rules which guide behavior during the school day and program time . In order to minimize disruptive or unacceptable behavior , Adventures Plus uses a variety of techniques such as preventative measures , role modeling , redirection , verbal intervention , de-escalation techniques , and appropriate consequences .
The Adventures Plus program has a responsibility to ensure the safety of the individual , other students and staff . The program reserves the right to terminate care immediately should there be a severe act of aggression towards students , staff or property . If a child ’ s behavior materially or substantially violates the rights of others , is disruptive , endangers self , other children or staff , or damages school or Adventures Plus property , a suspension of one to five days may be implemented .
