BICYCLE MAINTENANCE/SAFETY CAMP
Would you like to learn how to perform your own bicycle “tune-up” and safety
check? If so, this new camp is for you. Through hands-on demonstrations and
personal training, you will learn important maintenance functions including how to
change a flat tire and patch a tube, adjust wheels, spokes and brakes, change seat
height and saddle position, clean and lube the chain, and adjust the derailleurs for
smooth shifting. Ed Jones is the Outdoor Adventures teacher at Champlin Park
High School, and former bicycle shop owner. Bring your bike to camp.

ENGINEERING: BUILD LEGO BOATS
All aboard! Summer and water go together, and what better way to have a blast
than building Lego boats that actually float? Use your engineering mind to construct
boats with different propulsion systems, from paddles to propellers, and more. You’ll
be using Lego Technic pieces and electric motors to build the fastest boat. Captain
your boat and race it against friends. This is a summer adventure you’ll never forget.

ENGINEERING: CRAZY ACTION CONTRAPTIONS
We’ll unleash our imagination as we journey through the wide-ranging world of
Lego building. Working in pairs we’ll build models and discuss the engineering
science behind each of them. We’ll even modify and improve our models and
customize our creations. This fun, hands-on class proves just how fun and silly
engineering can be, yet still educational. Bring a water bottle and nut-free snack.

ENGINEERING: EXTREME LEGO MACHINES
Build target launchers, hand-triggered contraptions, and other Lego machines
that spin, pivot, lift, and drop. Put your machine together and get incredible chain
reactions. With an active imagination as your guide, there are endless possibilities.
Building Lego projects that launch safe projectiles or themselves into action, while
learning the physics behind the fun. Working in pairs, you will learn engineering
concepts such as velocity, trajectories, force, motion and more. You will also build
a PVC marshmallow launcher to take home. Presented by Computer Explorers
