SWIMMING LESSONS Roosevelt Community Pool offers year-round lessons for children as young as six months of age through adult. All instructors are certified through the American Red Cross - the most trusted name in aquatics. School-year sessions meet once a week for four weeks. Sunday evenings, weekday evenings and Saturday morning lessons are offered; view exact schedules online at www.discovercommunityed.com. PARENT/TOT Ages six months to five years Four-day sessions - 40 minute lessons: $45 Parent/Tot classes are designed to familiarize young children to the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics courses. This class is designed to help you teach your little one how to be comfortable in the water and teach safe swimming techniques to parents or caregivers. Parent or caregiver must accompany each child into the water and participate in each class. PRESCHOOL Ages three and four Four-day sessions - 40 minute lessons: $65 Preschool classes are designed to orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills. YOUTH Ages five years and up Four-day sessions - 65 minute lessons: $75 Youth classes are designed for children five years and older to progress from acquiring introductory skills to refining strokes in preparation for swim team participation. Level 1: Intro. to Water Skills - Helps pa rticipants feel comfortable in the water. No prerequisite. Level 2: Fundamental Aquatics Skills - Learn fundamental swimming skills: float without support and to recover to a vertical position. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 1 or demonstration of Level 1 certification requirements. Level 3: Stroke Development - Learn stroke development and build swimming skills and technique in deeper water. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 2 or successful demonstration of Level 2 certification requirements. Level 4: Stroke Improvement - Improve swimming skills and develop confidence in strokes learned previously in deeper water. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 3 or demonstration of Level 3 certification requirements. Level 5: Stroke Refinement - Develop further swimming coordination and refine swimming skills. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 4 or demonstration of Level 4 certification requirements. Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency - Refines strokes to swim with ease for 500 yards. Level 6 features menu options to prepare participants for advanced water activities in the future. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 5 or demonstration of Level 5 certification requirements.
