Start your vegetable and flower seeds in the heart of the winter. Learn the steps in creating this fun winter project and get a kick start on your garden this winter. Anoka County Master Gardener volunteers will share tips on how to start seeds with this unique technique. We will send you home with a few supplies to get you started on your spring plants!

Planting
a Pollinator Garden
With urbanization and the ongoing loss of key prairies and landscapes, our native bees’; and butterflies’; habits are disappearing. These pollinators are critical for maintaining our crops as well as our home gardens. Join us to learn how to create a garden of native plants to attract, feed and house these critical pollinators. There are numerous native plant varieties to choose from. Learn how native plants also use less water, need less maintenance, and yet flourish. Learn to create a beautiful natural space for you and future generations.( See photo above)

Power Tools for Women I
Explore the world of power tools and woodworking in this introductory, hands-on class. Week one: Learn to safely use drills, sanders, routers and saws. Everyone will use all the tools. Week two: Complete a small woodworking project to take home. Note: Long hair must be tied back and no loose clothing for safety reasons. Bring safety goggles, tape measure and pencil. Class held at Francis Kaas Shop in Ramsey. Supply fee of $ 30 paid to the instructor at class.

Power Tools For Women II
Continue the learning and woodworking fun in this sequel to“ Power Tools for Women I.” You will make a small end table with a bookshelf. Must be able to transport your project each night. Long hair must be tied back and no loose clothing for safety reasons. Prerequisite: Power Tools for Women I. Bring safety goggles, tape measure and pencil. Class held at Francis Kaas Shop in Ramsey. Supply fee of $ 60-80 paid to the instructor at class.

NEW | Water Gardens – Planning & Planting
Are you considering adding a water feature to your yard? Or are you interested in learning more about the plants used in water gardens? Anoka County Master Gardener volunteer Pam Pervenanze will share things to consider when thinking about a water feature, show you the construction steps for her backyard pond, share ideas for wonderful pond plants that are easy to grow and hopefully, inspire you to add a water feature to your yard.
