Forest Bathing-A Guided Wellness Walk
Build your own fishing rod from start to finish. Choose from
a spinning or baitcasting 6 ft. medium/light rod ($100) or
extendible Muskie rod 6 ft. 6 in. to 8 ft. 6 in. ($150). A completed
fishing rod, depending on the craftsmanship, can be valued in
excess of $300. Please indicate when registering what type of rod
you will make. Contact Gary at 612-810-6046 with rod specific
questions. Bring a bag lunch. Supply fee of $100- $150 cash or
check, paid to instructor, Gary Wicks, at class. Class fee: $29. Forest Bathing, defined as immersing in the beauty of nature
with all of one’s senses, enables you to refresh, reconnect, and
revitalize mentally and physically. Backed by scientific studies,
Forest Bathing is a professionally-guided slow, immersive,
and meditative walk through the forest that has been found
to reduce stress, boost immune function, increase focus and
productivity. The skills learned in this class will help you to
continue this practice on your own with a new appreciation
for the natural world near you. Class held at Rum River Central
Regional Park in Ramsey. Bring $6 park entrance fee. See

Make Your Own Fishing Rod
Bird watching is a hobby that can provide you with a lifetime
of enjoyment. Instructor, Amber Burnette, will introduce you to
core elements of birding, including bird identification by sight
and ear, bird behavior and migration, and methods of observing
birds in the field. The first night will be a classroom presentation
with the following weeks dedicated to practicing your skills in
the field as we head out to four different local parks to observe
them first-hand. See website for what to bring to class. Field
location discussed at first class. All levels of bird watching
interest welcome. Class fee: $59.
Foraging for wild edibles provides a lifetime skill set that is highly
valued! Matt Mosher, professional wild edible guide, will show
you how to properly identify the suroundings that are more likely
to produce morel mushrooms. Additional wild edibles that will
be sought out include spring oyster mushrooms, pheasant back
mushrooms, wild spring greens, including wild leeks (ramps),
garlic mustard, fiddlehead. This class will run rain or shine. See
website for important items to bring to class. Class will be held
at Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park in Monticello, MN.

Warmer weather is coming along with exciting opportunities
to get outside and explore nature once again! You are invited
to join author and naturalist, John Moriarty, in a visual and
informative journey of the remaining native habitats, including
30 places within a one hour drive of the Twin Cities metro area,
where you can see a wide variety of native plants and wildlife.

This basic introduction to mushroom cultivation will explain how
to cultivate a variety of gourmet mushrooms at home using
basic materials and simple techniques. Take away from this class
will allow home gardeners to grow edible mushrooms indoors
annually ,or outdoors perennially. All supplies are provided and
each participant will inoculate their own perennial Shiitake log to
take home with them. Class fee: $39.
