Karate
Karate is a popular martial art that improves self-confidence,
coordination, focus and reflexes. Families can have fun together
while working on individual achievements and learning effective
self-defense techniques for real situations. Open to beginner
and intermediate levels. Taught by 8th Dan Grand Master, Jim
Stringer. Class fee: $45.

Fencing
Fencing has evolved and has been deemed the “sport of
the intellectual athlete!” Headed up by Olympic Coach Ro
Sobalvarro new students get introduced to a pulse-pounding
sport while returning students continue their study. Safety is our
first priority. We supply safety swords, protective masks, chest
plates and jackets, in a high-octane, inclusive environment.Wear
long pants and athletic shoes. Presented by Youth Enrichment
League. Class fee: $89, $49 for students receiving free/reduced
price meals.

Driver education classes
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education has
partnered with Safeway Driving School to provide
an additional opportunity for high school students
to complete their classroom and behind-the-wheel
instruction outside of the traditional school day.
Driver education classes are open to teens ages
15 and up, and will be held at Andover, Blaine
and Coon Rapids high schools this spring with
additional classes offered in July and August.
• Classroom sessions prepare students for the
Minnesota driver’s permit test and becoming a
responsible driver.

in three, two-hour sessions on actual city streets,
highways and freeways.
PrepStar Blast ACT Class • Instructors are licensed by the Minnesota
Department of Public Safety and complete a
background check each year. Instructors have
experience teaching teens and receive extensive
training.
The ACT test is more important than ever before for college
admissions and financial aid. An ACT expert will introduce
you to the test format and review essential strategies for all
five sections. You will also have the option to take another full
practice test at home and have it scored with an online scoring
system for immediate results. Bring a writing utensil and a
calculator. Class fee: $89.
