It’s normal to feel anxious about first leaving kids home alone.
Would they know what to do in an emergency, or if a stranger
or even a friend came to the door? What about snacks or going
online? With planning, you’ll feel prepared. Handled well, being
home alone can be a positive experience for kids, helping them
gain self-assurance. Sheryl Nefstead has been teaching kids home
life and safety skills for many years. A local police liaison officer will
discuss child protection guidelines with parents. For parents, and
kids ages nine and up. Class will begin together, then split into
groups. Class fee: $19 per family of four.
