Power Tools for Women I Kokedama
Explore the world of power tools and woodworking in this
introductory, hands-on class. Week one: Learn to safely use drills,
sanders, routers and saws. Everyone will use all tools. Week two:
Complete a small woodworking project to take home. Note:
Long hair must be tied back and no loose clothing for safety
reasons. Bring safety goggles, tape measure and pencil. Supply
fee of $20 paid to instructor at class. Class fee: $49. Kokedama is a Japanese term derived from “koke” meaning
moss, and “dama” meaning ball, in the Bonsai tradition of
creating artistic forms with plants. Your plant will grow in a ball
of soil encased in moss secured by twine, string or wire and can
be hung in a window or placed on a tray or dish. See website for

Power Tools for Women II
Continue the learning and woodworking fun in this sequel to
“Power Tools for Women I.” You will make a small end table with
bookshelf. Must be able to transport project each night. Long
hair must be tied back and no loose clothing for safety reasons.
Prerequisite: Power Tools for Women I. Bring safety goggles,
tape measure and pencil. Supply fee of $45 paid to instructor at
class. Class fee: $49.

It’s time to put your yard and garden to rest for winter. With our
warming winters, it’s even more important to prepare your yard
and garden for the winter season so your plants survive and have
a better growing season the next year. We’ll identify tasks and
guidelines for your lawn, shrubs, trees, vegetable and flower
gardens including timing for each activity. Class fee: $25.

This holiday season, make your dining area as festive as the
rest of your home! Create a wonderful holiday centerpiece by
combining fresh evergreen boughs with a scented candle, adding
elegant style to your table. Bring pruners and garden gloves.
Class held at Mickman Brothers Garden Center in Ham Lake.
Supply fee of $30 plus tax, per centerpiece paid at class (note

Secrets to Keeping Healthy Houseplants
Houseplants are important to health and wellness especially
during our long winter months. Learn the basic principles of
houseplant care including watering, soil, and light. Discover
suitable plants for various conditions such as low-light, medium-
light, low-humidity, etc. along with specific care information.
Handouts include a plant list and an article about insect control.

Spruce Tip Pot
Create a 12 in. container filled with fresh spruce tops,
evergreens, dogwood and artificial berries. Additional items
may be purchased. Bring pruners and garden gloves. Class held

$35 plus tax, per container paid at class (note when registering

The Art of Bonsai
Explore the ancient art of bonsai – your own tree in miniature.
This hands-on course will take away the mystique and show
you how to create, maintain and shape your own tree. You’ll be
guided through the creation of your own bonsai tree in class.
Instructor, Lionel Flood is the past president of the Minnesota
Bonsai Society. Supply fee of $40 paid to instructor at class.
