DIY-Basic Electrical
An electrician can cost you hundreds of dollars for simple repairs.
Don’t live with problems, save money by doing simple repairs
yourself! This hands-on class will have you replacing switches
and wall outlets, as well as learning to re-wire a lamp. Bring a
wire stripper, straight-slot screwdriver and a long-nosed pliers, if
you have them. Supply fee of $5 for Step by Step Home Wiring

DIY-Basic Plumbing
Learn to repair minor plumbing problems and save precious money
in the process. Take apart different types of faucets, replace a popup drain assembly and discuss the internal working parts of a toilet.
Cut plastic and copper pipe, glue plastic fittings and solder copper

DIY-Drywall
Transform your home! Take care of those cracks, nail holes and
larger holes without replacing the entire wall. You’ll actually
practice repair work on a drywall sample in class. If you are
planning to repair or finish a room, this class is definitely for you!
Bring a hammer and a screw gun, if you have them. Class fee: $39.

Eliminate Your Paper Piles Once & For All
Despite the recent trend of going paperless, you still encounter
paper every day with bills, junk mail, receipts, children’s artwork
and much more! With simple systems and helpful tools, you will
know where to put your papers and how to find them when you
need them. Household management specialist, Andrea Hayft, will
help you learn how to develop a paper management system that
works for you. Class fee: $25.
Power Tools for Women I
Explore the world of power tools and woodworking in this
introductory, hands-on class. Week one: learn to safely use drills,
sanders, routers and saws. Everyone will use all tools. Week two:
complete a small woodworking project to take home. Note: long
hair must be tied back and no loose clothing for safety reasons.
Bring safety goggles, tape measure and pencil. Supply fee of
$20 paid to instructor at class. Class fee: $49.

Yard & Garden Problems
Fall is a great time to pinpoint yard and garden areas that need
tweaking - you can do it yourself! Discuss what to move or get rid
of, how to improve soils and establish new growing spaces, ways
to evaluate weed issues, and how to build a compost to handle
yard waste. Bring a drawing of your space and list of questions.
Leave with some “fix the problem” ideas. Instructor, Mary Tessman,
is a University of Minnesota Extension Service Master Gardener.
