The Last Keeper at Split Rock

Spanish-Beginning I

Mike Roberts turned off the light at the Split Rock Lighthouse at the
end of the 1968-69 shipping season. Little did he know that the light
would never shine again for the mariners of this iconic Lake Superior
National Landmark. Mike will enthrall you with stories from his U.S.
Coast Guard experience, personal search and rescue stories, and
the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald in November of 1975. Book
signing session before/after program. Class fee: $25 one; $35 two.

Learn the basics of the language and culture of Spanish-speaking
countries. This beginning class will introduce you to the Spanish
language, culture and food. Class fee includes textbook used
in class. Instructor is a native speaker. Class fee: $89 SpanishBeginning I; $149 Spanish-Beginning I & II, if registering together.

Spanish-Beginning II

Wine Making at Home
Make great wine at home. Explore the step-by-step process to
make wine from fresh fruits, fruit juices and kit wines from around
the world, as well as bottling and labeling techniques. You’ll make
a kit wine, prepare fruits and “balance” the juice so it’s ready for
the fermentation step. Instructor works as a home wine making
consultant with a Twin Cities wine making supply company.
Class fee: $35.

Continue learning the language and culture of Spanish-speaking
countries. New participants welcome; call regarding textbook.
Instructor is a native speaker. Class fee: $89 Spanish-Beginning II;

9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Work on improving the speed and accuracy of signs. Be able
to hold a conversation in ASL. New participants with a basic
understanding of sign language are welcome to attend. Certified
