Winter Survival Adventure Many people love to watch wilderness survival reality shows on television , but this class gives you the opportunity to learn and practice survival skills in real life ! Come out to Carpenter Nature Center and have fun building shelters , fires and distress signals in a safe , supervised environment . You ’ ll also get a chance to play in the snow , roast marshmallows over your fire , and maybe even see native wildlife ! All participants must be accompanied by a caregiver who will assist and encourage them through out the program . Making Maple Syrup Welcome the coming of spring by joining in the tradition of making maple syrup ! Learn how to identify maple trees and what makes them unique , spend time in the Carpenter Nature Center “ sugarbush ” tapping trees witness the process of turning sap into syrup , and sample finished maple syrup . All participants must be accompanied by a care giver who will assist and encourage them throught the program .
