Network With Community Bankers at Fall Summits CBI is Hosting a Late-Afternoon, Educational Event to Bring Community Bankers Together The Community Bankers of Iowa invites you to attend the Community Bank Summits and network with other like-minded bankers. The Community Bank Fall Summits are a convenient, late-afternoon educational event that will allow you to spend your morning working in the bank and your afternoon learning and networking with community bankers from across Iowa. The Fall Summits will be held Tuesday, October 15 at the Algona Country Club in Algona; Wednesday, October 16 at the Sheraton in West Des Moines; and Thursday, October 17 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Council Bluffs. curity best practice knowledge and expertise. Susan was also a lead instructor for the FDIC’s technology school and was instrumental in key industry initiatives such as the FDIC E-Risk Strategic Initiatives Risk Monitoring Committee, the Chicago Region Interagency Technology Group, and the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) IT Handbook rewrites. Prior to launching her consulting practice, Orr was Vice President of Regulatory Compliance for an Internet security company where she advised staff, customers, and partners on regulation, security, and risk management. Ernie Goss will also present during the Algona and West Des Moines Summits. Goss is currently the MacAllister Chair and Professor of Economics at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and Director of the Goss Institute in Denver, Colorado. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Tennessee. He was a visiting scholar with the Congressional Budget Office for 2003-04. Goss’ main street economic survey of bank CEOs in Iowa and nine other states is published monthly in The Community Banker Update, and can be read in this issue on pages 16-17. Brian Brinch, Farmer Mac’s Director of Financial Research will discuss how to minimize risk in the current ag economy during the Council Bluffs Summit. With each meeting beginning at 3:00 p.m. and concluding at 5:45 p.m. with a dinner reception and door prize giveaway, CBI is fitting in as much education and networking as possible into one afternoon.
