The Fall 2016 member class, of 38 accomplished women, officially began their three month provisional process on August 6 at their new member orientation. They were treated to an array of guest speakers, namely wisdom and insight from our thoughtful Board Members. The new members learned about the history of the Junior League as a whole and also went on the now-famous bus tour with member and tour leader, Mary Helfrich, where they received first-hand information on many of the places of importance for Junior League of Baltimore throughout the city.
Since joining, this particular group of new members has been extremely active and involved, not only achieving milestones early on their provisional menus, but voluntarily joining active members at additional events. Providing just a few examples, the new members have attended: “WOW” – Women of the World (this past October), training events held by various committees, socials for new members and League-wide, and even outreach events to help recruit for the upcoming prospective spring class. We are very excited about how involved and dedicated this large group has been from the very inception.
The new members have also successfully completed a community group project wherein they made blankets for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Soon, several JLB committees will be fortunate to have these new members, as Placement will be formally assigning the new members to their committees in the next few weeks. Pending the completion of their menus, they will formally become active members on December 1, 2016. If you are an active or a sustainer, please introduce yourself to these lovely women, who will likely be essential parts of JLB for years to come.
