Dear Colleagues,
We are finally back on track with our UNE COM newsletter thanks to Christine O'Brian. Yeah!
As many of you know, we been hosting regional events over the past 18 months. We invite local alumni, students on rotations, and applicants to join us for an evening get together. These have been a lot of fun, rekindling old relationships and igniting new ones. It's been wonderful having many of you join us- especially when you bring your now 20+ year old kid that everyone remembers as a baby!
Things at UNE COM have been hopping, as I am sure they have been for you as well. We are mostly settled into the new building- please come and visit, (it is pretty impressive). The fourth years are doing their audition rotations and planning their match lists, third years are heavy into core rotations, second years are starting to think about studying for boards, and the first years finally feel like they've figured out medical school (! ..?)
As we round out the calendar year we are preparing for a major transition, Dr. DeFeo will be stepping down as Sr. Associate Dean in February. Guy is an 1988 UNE COM alumni (Go class of '88). He completed an internship at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital and then returned to UNE to build the country's inaugural Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine/Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine residency program with Boyd Buser. Upon completion, Guy practiced in UNE's University Health Care system where he supervised UNE residents and worked with folks like Craig Wallingford, Bill Wyatt, etc.
