MISSION Statement
Save The Bay ’ s mission is to protect and improve Narragansett Bay and its 1,705-square-mile watershed . Through advocacy , education and habitat restoration , the organization works toward its vision of a fishable , swimmable Narragansett Bay , accessible to all .
Background Concerned citizens founded Save The Bay in 1970 , after defeating a series of proposals that threatened Narragansett Bay . Their work began a tradition of grassroots advocacy that remains core to our work today .
Brag Lines In 2022 , Save The Bay staff and volunteers planted 3,000 + native plants at habitat restoration sites ; engaged nearly 10,000 students in experiential environmental education programs ; and collected 38,000 + pounds of trash during shoreline cleanups .
Pay it Forward When you become a Save The Bay member , you become part of a community of passionate advocates dedicated to protecting and improving the heart of Rhode Island : Narragansett Bay .

Background At MENTOR Rhode Island , we believe in the extraordinary power of mentoring to transform lives and uplift communities . For over three decades , we have dedicated ourselves to a single , noble effort : to ignite the spark of possibility in every young person ’ s heart .
Brag Lines Since our database launched in 2018 , we ’ ve matched more than 1,826 kids with mentors in our direct-service programs . Statewide , we collaborate with 50 + programs serving 5,500 + youth . Funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention , our organization is the only technical assistance provider for the National Mentoring Resource Center in RI , helping organizations create or improve mentoring programs .
