Seton Hall Law has a reputation in the ethics and compliance space . Already it operates The Center for Health and Pharmaceutical Law and Policy to educate lawyers and health care sector professionals regarding the complex set of laws that govern patients , healthcare providers and life science companies . The gaming program builds on the success of the life science work .
Earlier this year the school also hosted two sports law symposiums which brought a bevy of industry speakers to the campus . The panelists included : Rich Ensor , commissioner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference , Val Ackerman , commissioner of the Big East Conference and Scott McLester , a Seton Hall alum who is general counsel to Orange Theory . The keynote speaker for the most recent program was former Gov . Chris Christie , who graduated in 1987 from the law school .
Christie made gaming part of his campaign platform . He initiated the lawsuit which resulted in the U . S . Supreme Court landmark ruling overturning the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act which had given Nevada a monopoly on gaming . The success of New Jersey ’ s gaming industry is spreading across the United States .
“ This industry will need bodies – good people . That ’ s why we have to identify students who want to join the industry and just like us , insist on doing it the right way , the socially responsible and sustainable way ,” Lycka said .
