“We’re doing everything we can,” Minshew said after last week’s game. “We’re busting our tails trying to fi gure it out. I don’t think there is any magic switch or anything that can happen, we just have to do everything in our power to make it right.” Minshew added that all the team can do is go back to work for the fi nal time in 2019 and use the practice days to try to get better. “We’re going to attack every day and attack practice. Even if it’s just one game left, we’re going to do everything we can to fi nish this season we’re in right now.” Wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. made two receptions for 18 yards last week and now sits 26 yards away from 1,000 receiving yards for the season. If he gets there, it would be the fi rst time since 2004 that that Jaguars had a 1,000-yard rusher and 1,000-yard receiver in the same season (Fred Taylor/Jimmy Smith). Running back Leonard Fournette surpassed the 1,000- yard mark earlier this year, and his 1,674 scrimmage yards is the fi fth-highest mark in franchise history and the most since Maurice Jones-Drew’s franchise record of 1,980 scrimmage yards in 2011. Defense After a second-half shutout in Oakland in Week 15 gave the team an opportunity to rally and win, the Jaguars defense allowed only a second-half touchdown against the Falcons in Week 16. Unfortunately, the Falcons logged 518 yards of offense, including 166 on 10 catches by wide receiver Julio Jones. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 384 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Running back Devonta Freeman was particularly effective, with a rushing and receiving touchdown and 128 yards from scrimmage. Jaguars cornerback Tre Herndon logged his third interception of the season and his career in the second quarter off Ryan, high-pointing a deep ball from Ryan. Safety Jarrod Wilson collected the second interception of his season and career in the third quarter on a play cutting in front of Jones. Both takeaways set up Jaguars fi eld goals. Linebacker Donald Payne made his fourth consecutive start and logged another double-digit tackle game against the Falcons with 16 total and two tackles for loss. His total of 59 tackles ranks fi fth on the team in 2019. Wilson leads the team with 68 total tackles in 2019.
