support doesn’t reflect that.
MSP: Are your songs on sale?
GSM: Yes, on almost all the known digital music
streaming platforms.
MSP: What’s the future like for you? Give me a
glimpse.
GSM: What’s beyond Grammys? That’s what I
want. I want something that’s beyond that. Most
music artistes here are eyeing that and I want to
go beyond that.
MSP: That’s quite an ambition...
GSM: That’s what it is. It’s not really about me in
the end if you actually think about it. I just want
to inspire the average Ghanaian youth out there
especially those from the coastal areas that it
is possible to go beyond Accra, Ghana or Africa
with whatever they’re into. Be it music, fashion
or whatever. I came out of the same community
but here I am on a magazine cover, Colossium
to be precise so me going beyond the Grammys
although it’s me receiving the honour it’s more
like me leading the way for others– those after
me to follow. Imagine I win whatever is beyond
Grammys then everyone will want to be there
too not just Ga youth…everyone.
MSP: Talking about fashion, what’s your take on
the fashion industry?
GSM: Ummm…it’s growing steadily. These days
fashion shows are a thing now. What we need
to do now is find a way to synchronize or to best
put it, we as music artistes should find ways to
collaborate with these designers on projects
because music and fashion go hand in hand. We
style ourselves for videos, photo shoots and so
on; it will be great to have local brands style us
for these purposes. It happening out there and
that’s how we sometimes get to hear of these
international brands.
MSP: You’re fashionable yourself.
GSM: I try hahaha.
MSP: The conversation has been wonderful.
GSM: Yes it has. Colossium is the place to be.
