GASMILLA
MISS PYPER: What is the inspiration behind
your new song Aflikiti?
GASMILLA: Love is what inspired me to put
this song together. Love is a genuine and pure
feeling that’s worth sharing. I want to share
my love.. That realisation of knowing who you
are and having something that is pure and
beautiful that others may not have and sharing
with them makes you the more amazing and
special.
MSP: How did you feel when other artistes
were claiming to be the originators of Azonto?
GSM: I can’t really tell how I felt but it’s
something I came to understand and accepted.
I wasn’t a big artiste then and so people didn’t
recognize me enough to attribute it to me.
MSP: Were you hurt or disappointed?
GSM: Not at all. I don’t think I had any emotions
towards that. I was simply OK and still am.
MSP: How do you go about putting songs
together?
GSM: Music just comes to me. I don’t force it. As
we speak now I’m in the studio finishing up a
song for my upcoming album.
MSP: Upcoming album? Tell me about it.
GSM: I’m not sure I want to do such. It’s more
like a secret project. I intend to surprise my fans
with it however I can drop a hit and probably
the title.
MSP: And what’s the title?
GSM: 10.10.10 or Sea-Son
MSP: So what really is the Gasmilla brand?
GSM: The Gasmilla brand? The Gasmilla brand
is anything music. I like to consider myself as
a versatile artiste. I rap, I sing, I raga – I simply
can do anything or style of music. A lot of
people know me as the “Azonto” artiste but I
have materials that are not Azonto an example
is Aflikiti. The Gasmilla brand is one that
represents not just Ga music but the Ga culture.
MSP: What do you do when you’re not doing
music?
GSM: Sleep or spend time reading or be with
