FASHION Evolution of Ghanaian Fashion In times past, simple designs were mostly preferred because they came at cheaper prices and satisfied the need of wearing a dress on any day. Ghanaian fashion is steadily making its way to the big scenes, and Ghanaians in particular are overly excited about recent development. In times past, simple designs were mostly preferred because they came at cheaper prices and satisfied the need of wearing a dress on any day. The introduction of new designs has directed the focus on a more sophisticated basis of style, size and colour among several other preferences. The early discovery of trends like the African wax print in colonial times has brought about what I call the - ’Evolution of Ghanaian Fashion’. Dating back to the colonial times, these African prints were fabric designs that were rejected by Indonesians and termed inferior so were referred to Africa for sale. Ghanaians found it new and refreshing, yet very affordable to own.
