A
s technology and
machinery take a
different toll with exciting
innovations and designs,
the world of fashion
also keeps evolving with
many new designs and trends that fashion
lovers appreciate. Ghanaian fashion is
steadily making its way to the big scenes,
and Ghanaians in particular are overly excited
about recent development.
In times past, simple designs were mostly
preferred because they came at cheaper prices and
satisfied the need of wearing a dress on any day. The
introduction of new designs has directed the focus
on a more sophisticated basis of style, size and
colour among several other preferences. The early
discovery of trends like the African wax print in
colonial times has brought about what I call the -
’Evolution of Ghanaian Fashion’.
Dating back to the colonial times, these African
prints were fabric designs that were rejected
by Indonesians and termed inferior so were
referred to Africa for sale. Ghanaians found
it new and refreshing, yet very affordable to
own.
