year marks the 400th year of slavery and the first black slaves who landed in Jamestown,
Virginia. Therefore, this event attracts many people in the diaspora to visit Ghana and pay
homage to our ancestors or trace their roots. YEAR OF RETURN unveiled by the Ghana
Tourism Authority this year attracted a number of personalities from Hollywood notably
Steve Harvey, Samuel L. Jackson and Danny Glover who visited the country to commemorate
the event.

Steve Harvey who is an actor and comedian, T.V host,
and author came to Ghana with family to pay homage
to our ancestors. They were met at the W.E.B Dubois
Center, Cantonments by the Minister of Tourism
Barbara Oteng Gyasi and the Tourism committee.
During his visit, he experienced the country’s rich
culture and tradition. He went to many places
including; markets and castles. His visit to the Cape
Coast Castle in the Central Region was an emotional
one because according to him, he felt the pain of his
ancestors in one of the
dungeons.
