About: Xiaofen Yang, Shandong Province, mother of a son and a daughter who are left behind
This photo was taken two days before I left
home to work. My daughter said to me:
“Mom, take a photo of me and my brother
so you can look at it when you miss us. When
you look at us, we are also missing you”.
How happy I was to be there to see my
daughter do her homework. I could only
be with her for a handful of days this year.
“Mom, it would be so amazing if you
could be here every day to watch me do
my homework. We’d be so happy!” my
daughter said.
My daughter dreamed of having a writing
desk for a long time. Before I went back
home, my daughter told me: “Mom, when
you come back please buy me a writing
desk. I want a Snow White one. I really like
Snow White!” So when we came back we
bought one for her.
Whatever my daughter wants, I’ll get it
for her. I feel so guilty for being separated
from her.
We don’t need beautiful photos, just real-life experiences!
