National Skilled Nursing Care Week “CELEBRATING LIFE’S STORIES” Each year, beginning on Mother’s Day and continuing throughout the week, a variety of special activ- ities are set aside to honor those who live and work in long term care facilities. This year’s theme is “CELBRATING LIFE’S STORIES.” Each facility is a small vibrant world within it- self. There is a special bond within the community of those who reside here, families and friends who visit here, and staff and volunteers who devote numerous hours caring for those who live here. We dedicate this week to all of you. We are honored to have you as part of the Colonial Springs family. We will be hosting a variety of activities about life and times of our ladies and gentlemen from the 1930s up until present time. There have been many changes throughout their lifetime including dialing the operator to talk to a friend to cell phone usage, or washing clothes on a washboard to present day washing machines. Each day we will take a period of time and reminisce about the good ole days. Monday will be the thrilling 30s to 40s. Tuesday will be the fantastic 50s and 60s.Wednesday will be the sporty 70s and 80s. Thursday will be the nifty 90s to 2000 and we will finish up Friday with a dedication to our future. Will the Jetson’s come true? We will just have to wait and see. Cinco de Mayo Day On May 5, 1862, Mexico defeated the French troops led by Emperor Napoleon III at the Battle of Puebla, which later led to their independence. At Colonial Springs, we won’t be as elaborate, but we will celebrate with some Mexican foods, crafts, music and dance. Watch your Chatter Box for special activities.
