St. Patty’s Day Party Mardi Gras Party St. Patrick’s Day is on Sunday, March 17, and since we already have our activities scheduled for that Friday we will celebrate St. Patty’s Day a ‘wee’ early. We will be decked out in our green attire and change our last name to O’…. My name will be Patrice O’Melton. That way we will ALL be Irish, at least for a little while. We will play Irish games, some LUCKY bingo and finish the day with some Irish dancing, music and food. Throughout the week, we will be doing some other Irish activities such as taking a trip to Ireland, making an Irish craft, and playing a few Irish games. Watch the calendar for a fun-filled week of going GREEN! Mardi Gras, also known as “Fat Tuesday,” occurs every year, the day before the Christian holiday of Ash Wednesday which is the official beginning of the season of Lent. We will be celebrating Mardi Gras by making decorations, cooking festive treats, crafting masks and beads and partying, almost like they do in New Orleans. We are even going to have a pancake race and pa- rade up and down the hallways in our Mardi Gras attire. Come on out on Tuesday, March 5 to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities and celebration. 2019 Colonial Springs Valentine King and Queen Herman Burns and Belva Smith MARCH ACTIVITIES TROUT SEASON OPENS - MARCH 1 MARDI GRAS - MARCH 5 DAY LIGHT SAVINGS TIME - MARCH 10 ST. We all tried to act “English” by pointing our pinky finger out to the side. We would like to congratulate Herb and Claudia Mallard on their 70th Wedding anniversary which will occur on March 19. Herb and Claudia were childhood sweethearts and sat together on the school bus. In 1942, Claudia’s family moved to California. Herb’s sister and Claudia were best of friends and they wrote letters back and forth for many years. Herb went into the Marines after high school and was stationed in California. He decided to look up his old friend and it was love at first sight. They were married at a Nazarene church in 1949. The couple have two beautiful children, Steve who resides in Fair Grove and Cheryl, who lives in Buffalo. We will be celebrating their anniversary, but the date has not been set, so stay tuned to our Facebook page for further information.
