George Singer was born
Nov. 25, 1949, to Sara Mae and
George Singer in Stockham, Neb.
When George was 10 months
old, his father passed away, and
four years later his mother remar-
ried. She had two half sisters, May
and Cena and one half brother,
Lester.
George graduated from Hampton
High School in 1958. He worked as
a ranch hand until he was able to
purchase his own car, which was a
1949 Plymouth for $125. He also
drove an over the road truck, haul-
ing natural by-product.
In 1968, George moved to Mis-
souri to be with his mother. He
worked in construction with the Burk
family and remained there until
1983.
In 1980, George met Patsy Vest
at a Steak and Shake. The couple
were married and they had one
daughter, Sarah. George and Patsy
weren’t married very long, and
George gained custody of Sarah.
His eyes began to fail in the early
80s, so he had to quit his job and do
odd jobs. He moved back to Nebras-
ka and went to college at North
Platte Community College and be-
came a Diesel Mechanic.
George worked odd jobs fixing
cars and trucks until he decided to
move to California. While there, he
helped run the Sundown Motel as
their maintenance worker until the
motel burned down. His next job was
working at a mobile home park,
where he was the repair man. He
stayed here until his health began to
fail him. He retired in 2001.
George decided to move back to
Missouri in 2017, to be closer to his
daughter and sister, which is where
he stayed until he came to Colonial
Springs in July.
George is a very social gentle-
men. He enjoys playing bingo, domi-
noes, going to church activities and
musical events. He also likes to
hang out with the guys, drinking
coffee.
But most of all, George loves it
when his daughter and nine grand-
children come to visit. They are the
joys of his life.
