Lunch at The Louisburg Picnic Would you like to go have one of the famous Louisburg Picnic fish sandwiches? Now you can. Join us on Friday, July 22 at 11 a.m. The cost of the lunch will be approximately $6 for a sandwich, drink and ice cream cone. If you would like to join us on this outing, please contact Patrice ahead of time. Thank You The residents and staff of Colonial Springs would like to thank everyone who participated in our Third Annual Spring Fling, which was held last month. Your contributions helped us raise more than $1200 for our activity room kitchen. We would also like to thank those who donated their time playing music, auctioning off pies, working at the kid’s games and helping with the food booth. We couldn’t have done it without all of you. You are the reason why Colonial Springs is both a great place to work and live. Loads of Fun Week Let’s go back in time...to the days when there was no electricity, no running water and no Downey or Tide. Let go back to the days when laundry was done on a wash board and in a hot water tub. Those were the good ole’ day. We will be learning all about the changes over the years in how we used to do laundry versus how it is done today, as well as the future of laundry. Some of our activities include the history of washboards and washtubs, making dryer sheet sachets, experiments on getting out nasty stains, and exercising the laundry Olympics. This week should be both a learning experience as well as a lot of fun. I—Scream Month Did you know that Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984? In his honor, we are going to serve ice cream throughout this month. We will have ice cream sodas, sundaes, smoothies and cones. We will also go on an outing for ice cream. So watch your calendars for this special treat. Vegetables Needed Every fall, the residents enjoy to can and make salsa for our holiday craft show. If you would have any tomatoes, peppers, onions or any fresh produce that we could use to make salsa, we would be glad to take it off your hands. If you would like to donate, please contact Patrice Melton, activities director. Thank you very much ahead of time.
