Growing up, she was the middle child of three girls. Kathy grew up in downtown Springfield and loved living in the city. “We always had fun. We either went roller skating, to the movies or to the car races,” Kathy said with a smile. “There was always something to do.” At an early age, a neighbor taught Kathy how to crochet. “I never learned by a pattern,” explained Kathy. “It was all by sight.” In 1954, Kathy graduated from Central High School. A few months later, while hanging out at the local roller skating rink, Kathy met James Mulholland. He was in the service and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. On Nov. 27, 1957, the couple were married at the home of Kathy’s parents. The couple was blessed with two sons, Curtis and Bryan (deceased). Kathy has five grandchildren and one great grandchild, with another one, according to her, “still in the hanger.” Kathy and James were married 11 years. Five years later, Kathy met John Bishop, a friend of her father’s, while at Consumer’s Grocery Store. Eventually, the couple were married and lived a wonderful life together until 2012, when John sadly passed away. Kathy has always worked in the food service industry, working at McDonald’s for 12 years and as a waitress. Since her retirement, she enjoys spending her time fishing and visiting with her family and friends. “I loved going out to the country to visit my family,” Kathy says. “It is so peaceful there.” Kathy came to Colonial Springs in January. She is active in a variety of activities and enjoys socializing with everyone. We are happy to have Kathy as part of our family.
